A quaint building neighbouring St Patrick’s Church in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley serves as a private function venue for weddings typically. An upgrade of the building’s entry sequence to provide more equitable access, along with the addition of a verandah space to the building’s eastern facade will offer the best possible experience for guests.
The new entry introduces hard and soft landscaping that aims to harmonise the ascent from street level through gently inclined walkways and additional planting. The hard landscaping features a selection of porphyry stones to reference the materiality of the church in eye sight.
The new verandah provides guests with an additional area that features large spotted gum timber retractable windows and a glazed roof to take full advantage of the view to the adjacent fig tree and church.
