Completion: In progress
Located 250 kilometres north of Brisbane, a private client’s vacant site on Fraser Island offers an idyllic destination to relax and spend time with friends and family.
The form of the home nestles into the natural gradient of the landscape and is organised around the preservation of an existing Banksia tree.
A pool accompanies the existing tree in a central courtyard space that draws attention inwards, creating an intimate and private home that at the same time is spacious and able to accommodate several guests at any one time.
Externally the house is clad in white fibre cement panels and features green stained timber in communal outdoor dining spaces to complement the native surroundings. Double height volumes characterise many of the home’s public spaces and frame views of the island and the nearby water.
