The proposal for a federal government office building provides a robust planning approach that caters to the diverse needs of people working in and visiting the building. The site is strategically located with ease of access to transport and a major town centre.
Projecting towards the street, an aperture spans from the ground plane and extends past the roofline, clearly identifying the building’s entry. The ground plane opens into a generous double height volume that exudes a sense of welcoming as people enter.
The clean lines of the expressed concrete slabs delineate the floor levels. Floor-to-floor glazing is situated on the north and south facades, while angled fins on the west and east facades protect the building’s inhabitants from harsh sunlight.
